This work is part of Victoria's ongoing Frozen Poetry series, a cycle of works in which she diaristically charts poetic responses to events unfolding around her. Butterflies Aflutter is one of many works Victoria has made about generational divide - in it, Victoria's generation are represented as butterflies, aspirationally attempting to float above the concrete 20th century legacy architecture that surrounds them, only to be struck down and returned to earth. Yet there is a subtle optimism at play - Victoria's generation appears in dazzling colour - in contrast to their black and white surroundings - and unrelenting in the face of the clear dangers they face.
