Wasters: Curated by Alex Hoda & Robert Rush

Edel Assanti and CASS Sculpture Foundation are pleased to present Wasters, a group exhibition curated by Alex Hoda and Robert Rush.
Re-uniting the same artists involved in CASS Sculpture Foundation's The Kiln Project, and developing ideas harvested there, each artist will produce their own functional 'Waster'. Traditionally discarded as defective, these singular items will be celebrated for their intriguing, unique assemblages.
Aaron Angell is a multi-disciplinary artist, focusing on ceramics. His work explores certain hermetic, hobbyist cultures where there is a difficult mixture of canonical and fantasized history.
Rose de Borman is a London based artist focusing on handmade ceramics and textiles. Working across artistic and commercial fields, de Borman works broadly in interiors, fashion and her own practice.
Mark Essen is a London based artist focusing on video. Recent exhibitions include A Union of Voices, Horatio Jr. London (2014), and Sounding, Open file, Modern Art Oxford (2014).
Alex Hoda is a London based sculptor. Hoda explores elements of the human psyche, and the forces that influence behaviour; how we look at deformity, violence, ugliness and aggression. Alex Hoda's solo show at Cass Sculpture Foundation, Chance Encounters, is open until November 2015.
Paulina Michnowska is a London based sculptor who graduated from the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, in 2010. Recent exhibitions include Rough Music, Cass Sculpture Foundation (2015) and Urban Tales #1, curated by Louise Chignac at The Bank, London (2015).
Laure Prouvost is a French artist who lives and works in London. In 2011 Proust won the Turner prize. Her work often includes film, performance and installation in which richly layered stories, translation, and surreal moments converge. Recent exhibitions include: L'écran : Entre ici et Ailleurs, at CAPC Musée d'Art Contemporain de Bordeaux, Bordeaux (2014) and the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, at Whitechapel Gallery, London (2013).
Giles Round is a sculptor living and working in London. Recent exhibitions include: The Influence of Furniture on Love, at the Wysing Grange Farmhouse (2014) and Studio Wares, The Grantchester Pottery at David Dale Gallery, Glasgow (2013).
Robert Rush was taught at Central St Martins and the Royal Academy Schools. He has been included in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries, in (2006) and John Moores 25 at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool (2008).
Jackson Sprague is a multi-disciplinary artist living and working inLondon. Recent projects include group exhibitions at Frutta, Rome (2015), Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art, Sunderland (2015), Limoncello, London (2014) and a solo exhibition at Cole, London (2014).
Adam Sutherland is a sculptor and current director of Grizdale arts, a contemporary arts residency and commissioning agency in the central Lake District. Its focus is on emerging artists and increasing public access to the contemporary arts.
Bedwyr Williams often draws upon the quirky banalities of his own autobiographic existence to develop his sculptures and performances. Recent exhibitions include: Starry Messenger, at the Whitworth, Manchester (2015) and ECHT at Vestjyllands Kunstpavillon, Denmark (2015).
Mike & Carol Francis found and run Francis Ceramics. They both have a fine art background, Mike studying painting at the Royal College of Art, and Carol studying painting at the Royal Academy Schools. Their clients include: Hampton Court, Kensington Palace, the Yale Centre for British Art and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
