Pim Blokker
Private View | Wednesday 27 April, 6-8pm
Edel Assanti is pleased present Pim Blokker's first solo show at the gallery.
Blokker's work aims to broaden narrowly held points of view, stretch universal perspectives and present collective consciousness as something without a fixed structure. He does this by juxtaposing the two emotional extremes of hilarity and horror, presenting confrontational logic. Blokker’s paintings use cartoon themes playing with the absurd and wild exaggeration. The images appear humorous, only to be offset by undertones of danger and tragedy. Blokker examines sober issues in a playful way, to pass off absurdities as logical and to undermine seemingly established facts.
Blokker lives and works in Amsterdam.
