We are pleased to announce the opening of Edel Assanti’s second London gallery at 11 Bury Street, St James’ on 5 June 2026, in addition to our existing London premises in Fitzrovia.
Situated in one of London’s historic gallery neighbourhoods, the new space opens to coincide with London Gallery Weekend, with a presentation of paintings on quilt by American artist Lonnie Holley, concurrent with the artist’s Inserzioni commission at Castello di Rivoli, Italy (27 March – 23 August 2026). The new gallery spans 450 square feet with 3.8 metre high ceilings, designed in collaboration with London architects Sanchez Benton – the team behind Edel Assanti’s Grade-II listed 4,000 square foot building on Little Titchfield Street.
Exhibition-making remains Edel Assanti’s heartbeat and principal activity, and in parallel, our two London spaces will enable the gallery to broaden the scope of support and programming for our artists and their multifaceted practices. Beyond the Fitzrovia gallery’s large-scale, narrative-driven exhibitions, Bury Street provides an intimate environment for focused presentations by both represented artists and those new to the programme, highlighting individual works, significant periods and definitive themes.
The decision to expand our footprint in London 16 years after we first launched here affirms our commitment to the unique ecosystem of artists, art schools, institutions, collectors and audiences that define our home city. We are excited to join the vibrant community of St James’s galleries, and look forward to welcoming you to 11 Bury Street.
