Noémie Goudal: Soulèvements

We are excited to announce the release of Noémie Goudal's latest publication, Soulèvements, a continuation of Goudal's large scale photographic project engaging with histories of scientific and geological theory.

Goudal's series Soulèvements is a reinvention of scientific theories surrounding the formation of the Earth's relief, beginning with the illuminating archaeological discovery of the existence of fossils on top of a mountain. Using installations constructed of a myriad of assembled mirrors, each photograph optically sculpts the surrounding landscape into a perspectival trompe l'oeil that defies the viewer's gaze. More than a photobook, Soulèvements combines reproductions of the photographs with theoretical texts, an essay by Emma Lewis and an archive of scientific iconography, alongside documentary images of the artist's process.
